In early 1997, a few men came together with the vision of creating a model railroading club people could join to enjoy the art of creating miniature worlds with model trains. The idea quickly took form. In just two years, the club had over 25 members and construction of the first layout in O gauge was underway.
On September 26th of 1998, the Masonic Village and Elizabethtown Train Club officially offered its first Open House, inviting the public to see its layout, even though only a small section was completed. About three hundred people came! The Club’s first Open House was a success.
Today the club continues the tradition of Open Houses. The public is invited on a regular basis, to enjoy the work that Club members put into designing, improving, and redesigning layouts.
Generous donations of trolleys, HO, N, S gauge layout components, and an entire Z gauge layout, have brought the Club beyond its “O” gauge beginnings. Now over two decades later, the Masonic Village and Elizabethtown Train Club hosts seven scales of model railroad layouts including G, Standard, S, O, HO, N, and Z.
Membership in the Club is open to all adults. If you are interested in becoming a Member, visit us during any Open House and speak to anyone in a blue shirt. During the pandemic you can email your questions about membership to MVETrainClub@gmail.com.
